"HOW MUCH DID YOU LOSE THEN"
Its this time of year I feel quite popular, emails, texts and calls all asking me for my opinion on the Grand National.
I then to my surprise start explaining my fancy for the race "Butlers Cabin" I go on to persuade these poor unsespecting people of my endless hours studying trends and stats and how this is Tony McCoys year and to get on early.
So off they run to the nearest Bookmakers to put there £1 e/w bets on this years favourite and sit down to watch the race in anticipation of picking up there winnings.
I will now fast forward to 10 minutes later a 100/1 shot has just won, My Will, Comply Or Die and State of Play all who I said to avoid have filled the places and my phone is suddenly beeping with texts of an explicit nature of which one from my closest friends read "Curse you Woods" another read "How much did you lose then?"
"Ah I replied that will be nothing, I never actually bet in the race" at this point I wasnt sure whether to be relieved that I had lost todays money on a seller at lingfield rather than a 40 runner jumping marathon or guilty that I had tipped all my friends and family a loser in the biggest race of the year, morally of course I explained even I could not of foreseen such a result and the blame clearly should not lie with me.
Of course before ending the conversations I advised them all how getting on Butlers Cabin now for the 2010 Grand National was the best way of getting there money back.
