"Has the Flat season actually started?"

Im a flat man through and through and I have to admit im in a blur at the moment? The season has been in full flow now for 2 weeks, well the actual comment of "full flow" is rather misleading, apart from the lincoln meeting all I can really recall from the last fortnight is the biggest National Hunt event of the year(though clearly Cheltenham is to all enthuists) and loads of all weather meetings.

Yesterday for example there were 2 National Hunt meeting's and one flat, how is that right? plainly should have been the other way round. The race planners should also consider running the Lincoln meeting after Aintree it just baffles me that does.

It just seems and never used to be the case, that the Flat is losing some of its gloss-so much hype with Kauto Star, Denman and Co that the flat stars-(perhaps Yeats aside) seem to be forgotten so easily.

The worrying thing for me was the Racing Posts online news the other day, with the Craven meeting next week and the Guineas only 3 weeks away you would expect Flat orientated news OH NO!!...headline was "Kauto to reappear at Down Royal" I had to blink check the calendar and blink again! November 2009 that is?? Surely there was some piece of news from the Flat world to replace this pointless article, Im not one to criticise but that is plain pointless putting those type of storys on-its like me ringing up Ballydoyle in October and asking where Yeats will be making his seasonal debut in 2010.

Thats my moan over for the day and with Newmarket kicking off on Wednesday maybe the Flat season can begin in earnest-and look out for my 2,000 Guineas hope(On On Our Way) runs in the Fielden Stakes.

Have a good Saturdays Punting.
