DARRENS BLOG
"Return of the Blog"
Its been a while in the making but the blog is back, so where do i start? 1000 Guineas I did not fancy Rainbow View, instead very keen on Serious Attitude, looking at her pedigree I had no doubts about the extra 2 furlongs as she wasn't stopping in the Cheveley Park and with another winter on her back was bound to be stronger, but in the race itself she looked a blatant non-stayer finishing a well beaten 7th-Not seen since but im looking forward to her returning to Sprinting.
2000 Guineas-I was oh so sweet on Evasive(since purchased by Godolphin) Delagator had won a weak Craven but has since proved he's top class, Rip Van Winkle I just couldn't have and Sea the Stars just slipped my radar.sprinting trips as not sure he gets the Mile to well.
Oaks-having backed both Sariska and Midday in the trials I travelled up to Epsom pondering on which one to back-Midday had course form and hacked up in her trial was Sariska has bundles of Stamina and class and also won her trial well, but after winning a fortune on Ask(Coronation Cup) and inspecting the paddock area my allegiances to Cheveley Park took over my senses and the next thing I knew I had just placed a hefty e/w bet on Phillipina-a maiden who had run well at Chester but needed to find alot on the form book but given the vibes I had heard and the improvement expected I was hopeful of a top 3 finish-then to my horror the old adage of "never change your mind" came back to haunt me as both Sariska and Midday fought out the finish but was pleased for one Jamie Spencer to get a G1 win under his belt for this year-he gets alot of stick and doesn't deserve it.
Derby-I didn't have a big bet in this race, was aware of the history involved if Sea The Stars won and also fully mindful of the 6/7 ballydoyle raiders so just had a small e/w bet on Crowded House who in turn ran well and in my opinion will be a major threat in 10f races this season.
I didn't do to well in the first 4 classics really in terms of getting the winner, however fully made up for it at Royal Ascot..all the Cheveley Park horses ran crackers-especially happy for Spacious and Cesare and Heaven Sent is one gutsy mare who will make a great broadmare for the operation.
I thought I would mention an update on "hudsonhorses" since the last blog we have created merchandise-T-shirts, Pens and Hats etc: which was quite fun designing and in terms of horses hopefully will have the first In foal mare on the books next week-so watch this space.
Evasive ran a cracker given his problems and I would advise Godolphin to revert him to sprint distances.
